About the Panel of Experts: 

Dr. Fernando Fernández Bueno (SPA) holds a PhD in Medicine and Surgery from the Autonomous University of Madrid, Fernando Fernández Bueno, has become a true opinion leader on the issue of the harm caused by smoking. As spokesman for the Platform for Tobacco Harm Reduction, he has been interviewed in the main national media, press, radio and television. Fernando makes his spokesmanship compatible with the practice of his specialty as an Oncological Surgeon at the Central Defense Hospital Gómez Ulla in Madrid.

As a military medical surgeon, he has also participated in international and humanitarian war missions both in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as in voyages with the Training Ship Juan Sebastián el Cano.

He is the presenter of the health channel Medicina Clara, which has more than 600,000 followers worldwide and 75 million views on Youtube. As a lecturer and trainer he frequently participates in symposiums, congresses, round tables and medical forums. He is also a professor of medicine at the University of Alcalá. 

Dr. Josep María Ramón Torrell (SPA) has a degree in Medicine and Surgery (1980), is a specialist in Internal Medicine (1985) and Preventive Medicine and Public Health (1989) and Doctor in Medicine and Surgery (1991) from the University of Barcelona. Since 2007 he has been head of the Preventive Medical Service of the University Hospital of Bellvitge and at the same time head of the Tobacco Treatment Unit of that hospital. In 2009 he obtained accreditation in advanced research, and in 2012 accreditation to serve as a university professor (ANECA). He was head of studies at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona between 2009 and 2017 and since 1996 he has been a tenured professor at the University of Barcelona. On the other hand, he directs the specialty in Smoking of the Master in Advanced Medical Competences of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona. Since the mid-eighties, his research focuses on the field of preventive medicine, international health and the prevention and treatment of smoking.

Julio Ruades (SPA) is spokesperson for ANESVAP (Spanish Association of Personal Vaporizer Users), a non-profit organization of users created to defend the right of every person of legal age to use personal vaporizers to quit smoking. In addition to being the spokesperson for Anesvap, Julio has been a pro-vape activist for more than 12 years, well known on social networks for his YouTube channel “el mono vapeador” which has more than half a million subscribers. He is dedicated to promoting vaping and the science behind harm reduction methods among Spanish-speaking users around the world, through interviews with Doctors, covering annual events such as the Global Forum on Nicotine and helping vaping user organizations both in Spain and throughout Latin America. He has received several awards over the years in different countries such as Mexico, Colombia or Spain, including the INNCO Roll of Honour to the activist of the year (Warsaw 2019), or the Vlogger award in 2016.

Federico N. Fernández (ARG) is a visionary leader dedicated to driving innovation and change. About the Moderator: 

Dr. Carmen Escrig (SPA) holds a PhD in Cell Biology and Genetics from the Autonomous University of Madrid, is founder, coordinator and/or scientific advisor of different organizations related to Tobacco Harm Reduction, such as the Spanish Medical Platform for Tobacco Harm Reduction, composed of about thirty doctors, professors and health professionals, as well as the Spanish Association of Personal Vaporizer Users (ANESVAP). She is the organizer of THR SUMMIT SPAIN, the first scientific congress on Tobacco Harm Reduction in Spain. She has attended or participated as a speaker in several congresses related to THR. She also collaborates actively with users and scientific organizations in Latin America.
