About the Webinar: 

Throughout this session, we will examine the successes and challenges faced by countries like Estonia and Bulgaria that have adopted the flat tax model. Our panel of international experts will share insights into how these systems have influenced economic growth, tax compliance, and administrative simplicity. We will also discuss the potential pitfalls and considerations necessary for implementing such a system in Argentina.

About the Speakers: 

Dan Mitchell (USA) is President of the Center for Freedom and Prosperity, a pro-market public policy organization he founded in 2000. His major research interests include tax reform, international tax competition, the economic burden of government spending, and other fiscal policy issues. Having also worked at the Heritage Foundation and Cato Institute, he has decades of experience authoring papers, writing editorials, working with the public policy community, and presenting the free-market viewpoint to newspaper, television, and radio media. Dan has spoken to a wide variety of groups in dozens of cities and more than 50 foreign countries. He also served on the editorial board of the Cayman Financial Review, and holds a Ph.D. in economics from George Mason University.

Dr. Krassen Stanchev (BUL)  teaches Public Choice, Macroeconomic Analysis of Politics and history of economic ideas to humanitarian post-graduates at Sofia University. He is also CEO of KC2 Ltd and Board Chairman, founder and former Executive Director of Institute for Market Economics (1993-2006), and MP and committee chairman at VII Constitutional Assembly of Bulgaria (1990-91).

After leaving IME, Stanchev continued to work on pro-market and tax reforms not only in Bulgaria but in the countries of the Balkans, Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Ukraine and other countries.

He is a member of the MPS, of the Network for Constitutional Economics and Social Philosophy (NOUS), of the Wilhelm Roepke Institut in Erfurt, a Distinguished Professor of Tbilisi Free University in Georgia and Honorary Board Member of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Konstantin Zhukov (RUS) is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Economics at Trinity University. He received PhD in Economics from George Mason University in 2023. His research interests include Austrian economics, transition economies, and economic sociology. Konstantin is co-author of “The Road to Freedom: Estonia’s Rise from Soviet Vassal State to One of the Freest Nations on Earth.”
