We Are Innovation to Co-Organize Webinar Series on Mercosur & EU Trade Agreement
* The pro-innovation network emphasized the importance of free trade for both blocks.

Rosario, Argentina; Brussels, Belgium (August 30, 2022) — We Are Innovation announced that the network is co-organizing four webinars to analyze the state of the trade agreement signed by Mercosur and the European Union. The ‘EU-Mercosur Free Trade Agreement’ Series promises to deliver accurate and validated specialist knowledge.
The kickstart event is titled ‘Protectionism – does it show its face?’ and will host speakers such as Oscar Guinea, Senior Economist at the European Center for International Political Economy (ECIPE); Nelson Illescas, lawyer, consultant and Director at the Institute for International Agricultural Negotiations Foundation; and Eugenio Mari, Chief Economist of Fundación Libertad y Progreso and Lecturer in International Economics UCEMA.
Federico N. Fernández, We Are Innovation’s CEO, explained that “the Mercosur / EU agreement is the largest FTA both blocks have ever signed. Free trade not only makes both parties win but is also a force for peace and civilization. In these turbulent times, the Mercosur / EU agreement must be swiftly ratified and put into practice.”
Besides protectionism, the series will also feature webinars on cooperation and food security, free trade as a tool to save the environment, and what is next for the EU / Mercosur FTA.
Teaming up with We Are Innovation as co-organizers of the webinar series are The Paddy Ashdown Forum based in the United Kingdom, the Mercosur-oriented Grupo de Países Productores del Sur (GPS), and the European Liberal Forum (ELF) — which is the official political foundation of the European Liberal Party, the ALDE Party.
