Colombia: We Are Innovation Participates in Digital Agenda Forum

* He stressed that what is at stake is the future of education as we know it.
Rosario, Argentina (June 24, 2022) — Federico N. Fernández, CEO of We Are Innovation, participated in the panel Talent and computational thinking held as part of the Forum “Let’s build together the agenda of the digital ecosystem.” The event was organized by the former Minister of Information and Communication Technologies and Senator-Elect David Luna.
The panel also included Santiago Amador (Colombia EdTech), Elizabeth Blandón (SENA), César Augusto Cruz (Pinkbrain) and Lyda Piñeros (Platzi). The moderator was Ximena Duque (Fedesoft), who began with the question of whether there should be a compulsory course in computational thinking from an early age.
According to Federico, “the ability to program is developed in children from a very young age thanks to the possibilities that games and apps offer them. Taking this into account, perhaps an interdisciplinary approach that includes linguistic reflections and a research logic based on problem-solving could be possible.”
We Are Innovation’s CEO also remarked on the changes in the educational field. “At the core of what we are discussing in the panel is the future of education. EdTech platforms and startups provide knowledge and training in a much more agile and cheaper way than traditional higher education. We may not want to create a clash between formal and non-formal education… but the scenario is reminiscent of Blockbuster and Netflix.”
