Fernández, tobacco harm reduction specialist Ignacio Leiva, and inventor Bengt Wiberg – will explore the profound implications of Sweden’s success story and its potential to inspire global change. Moderated by Tetiana Rak, this interactive session will explore the intersection of innovation, public health, and personal responsibility that made the Swedish miracle possible.

About the Speakers:

Tomasz Agencki (POL) is broadcaster and documentary filmmaker. He is the director of We Are Innovation’s documentary “How Sweden Quit Smoking.” Tomasz was awarded the prize for best international documentary at the ANTHEM Festival in Las Vegas 2020 for his film about the European Union. In each work, he focuses on the hidden or unknown side of history, politics or technology.

Suely Castro (BRA) is the Director of Quit Like Sweden (QLS). She is a passionate and energetic harm reduction advocate whose mission is to end smoking. Suely was inspired by her personal experience of the impact that smoking and the lack of alternatives can have on families, and decided to set up QLS after witnessing first-hand Sweden’s incredible achievements. Her goal is to bring the Swedish Experience to the world and save other families from the challenges she had to face.

Federico N. Fernández (ARG) is a visionary leader dedicated to driving innovation and change. As the CEO of We Are Innovation, a global network of 30+ think tanks and NGOs, Federico champions innovative solutions worldwide. His expertise and passion for innovation have earned him recognition from prestigious publications such as The Economist, El País, Folha de São Paulo, and Newsweek. Federico has also delivered inspiring speeches and lectures across three continents, authored numerous scholarly articles, and co-edited several books on economics.

Ignacio Leiva (CHI) is a journalist specialized in informatics and multimedia platforms. In 2010, he led the communication campaign to prevent the vaping ban in Chile. Since then, he has focused on strengthening the community of electronic cigarette users, making them more informed and aware. He is the founder and current president of the Association of Vaporizer Consumers of Chile (ASOVAPE) and serves as the secretary of ARDT Iberoamerica. He organized the first pro-vaping public demonstration in Latin America and promotes communication campaigns for tobacco harm reduction in Chile and worldwide. Ignacio has been an active and relevant actor in the legislative process concerning electronic cigarettes in Chile, significantly contributing to policy discussions. He is also the manager of the broadcasts for World Vaping Day (WVD) and Vapefest Online. Currently, he is the general content editor and activities coordinator for the campaign “Vaping is not Smoking,” a multimedia communication effort carried out in Chile and aimed at Latin America.

Bengt Wiberg (SWE) is the inventor, founder and beating heart of Sting Free AB. He is really passionate that everyone should have the chance to try the Stingfree technology and that the rest of the world, just like Sweden, should dump cigarettes in favor of much less harmful snus.
